Traveling to Japan for the first time is an exciting experience, especially if you know what to expect. Here are some things to keep in mind, from taking off your shoes to dealing with the language barrier.
Do not stand on the wrong side of the escalator
When you are visiting Japan, make sure you are not standing on the wrong side of the escalator. Several campaigns have been run in the country to promote proper escalator usage. In the most basic sense, you should stand on the left side of the escalator, but there are other rules to consider.
Among the most notable of these is the “keep the way open” rule, which is common in urban regions throughout Japan. While it may sound silly, it’s actually a very good practice. This means that you should keep the side of the escalator next to you free of anything. For example, you should put your suitcase on the step above or below it, rather than in front.
You should also remember that in Tokyo, you should stand on the left side of a escalator. However, you’ll also find people standing on the right side. Generally, these are merchants who want to pass you on the right.
Take off your shoes
If you are planning a trip to Japan, then you may have questions about how to get the most out of your travels. While there is no magic bullet, there are a few things you can do to make your travels go as smoothly as possible. These include packing, observing customs, and making sure you’re prepared for the unexpected.
One of the easiest ways to get a feel for the Japanese culture is to observe other people. They tend to be very patient and don’t usually get impatient. When you’re … READ MORE -->
Somehow, at the ripe old age of 52, I got tasked with planning a bachelorette party for my dearest high school friend, Suzanne, who had finally found her true love after many years of dating. At the very top of my party preparation list was finding the best party bus company in Toronto.
While we may not exactly be a bunch of crazy partiers, I had invited friends and family from near and far, many of whom were not able to drive in until the day of the party. After already spending the day on the road, the very last thing they wanted or needed to do was drive all over Toronto as we visited a couple of restaurants and hit a few clubs for some fun. The very last thing I needed to do was bail anyone out of jail if they had a little too much to drink, most especially the bride-to-be.
One of the best perks of renting the party bus was that it gave us a fun and totally private spot for a more adult bridal shower with some funny gag gifts. It was great being able to leave the gifts and our jackets on board the bus as well. With door-to-door service, we could all wear our heels and not break our ankles hiking from remote parking lots.
I wanted Suzanne to feel catered to and make the event special from start to finish and renting a party bus gave us all a chance to have a few drinks while traveling throughout the city without worrying about parking a caravan of cars or pay for valet parking. A party bus that could pick us all up at one central location, allow us to enjoy some cocktails and give Suzanne some gifts, was the perfect beginning … READ MORE -->

So dress comfortably and carry a light extended-sleeved jacket. Steer clear of high-heeled footwear or lace-on shoes. Dr Scholl’s, Ecco, and numerous other individuals sell shoes for comfort. Omelio also recommended a paladar for dinner, located us a taxi driver for Remedios, even phoned Havana to re-schedule and re-confirm. So, how would we get back to the capitol? The driver Omelio had chosen would come promptly at ten.
